The lake level is 570.33 and has risen 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running about 18-hours. It rises when they quit generating and stable when they run the one but the lake is still creeping up everyday. The White River at Newport is 27.77 feet and trying to get back in its banks. They keep running Table Rock heavily and it is approaching normal. Go figure. All lakes should be dropped evenly. Norfork is not on the White River Chain of Lakes and is the step-child. The surface water temperature is 60-degrees in and around Blackburns Creek and and the water is still a light brown in both the creek and out on the main lake. The water is the same color until you get further south but is not muddy but there is no visibility down. There is some small debris blowing with the wind and was against the south facing bank last night but the wind has shifted to from the north again but has slowed down. It was very breezy yesterday from the south with an ambient temperature of 85-degrees. Things are drying out again but it is to rain Saturday and Sunday. Some Bass and crappie are on their spawning banks. There is no sight fishing in Blackburns area. You have to beat the bank in the buckbrush for bass with a grub or gitzit. A crankbait will also work in shallow water in the wind for fish staging. A 1/16th ounce jig head with a small grub or jig tipped with a small crappie minnow will work about the best for about everything. Scuba Steve does not know where the Walleye are located but will wait for the thermocline to form and fish main lake points. The best will be near brush in 12-16 ft. of water with a small Bink's Jigging spoon. It should be in early May. Now also start watching for early top-water fish. They will be mostly Bass now but the Stripers will move into Panther creek soon. They always do. 14.17 pounds with 5-fish won the fishing tournament yesterday. You are not going to stop those local fishermen with their old Champion boats no matter what the fishing conditions. There are some good Bass fishermen in the Norfork Lake Bass Club.
