Matt Dorschel from Wisconsin and Greg Derschel from Nashville and here and caught some nice ones fishing with Bink's Guide service. Nice fellows. The lake level is 553.60 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday with just a couple of hours of generation. The White River at Newport is 8.24 feet and low indicating not much water is being released anywhere. The surface water temperature is 56-degrees and rising with the water clearing both in the main lake and in the creeks. Scuba Steve could see his lure down about 4-5 feet last evening. The creeks change in clarity with the wind almost daily. We have not received any rain for quite a while and the wind is drying everything up and there is a burn ban. We might get some this weekend. Blackburns has several fishermen and families in for spring break and they are all catching some fish and overall the lake is in excellent condition and at a good level. Several species are pre-spawn feeding and the top-water bite will start in earnest in a couple of weeks. Scuba Steve is using a Bink's Spoon, Bobby Garland Baby Shad jig, grub and minnow and a slip float with a minnow depending on the conditions. The lake level has been stable and if it stays that way it could be a good spawn for most fish. What we do not need now is a quick rise or a quick drop. I am looking forward to a good spring. Now is the time to book your spring fishing trip and summer family vacations. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here at Blackburns and the price is right. A free stall for your boat comes with the cabin rental and you can launch right here. Perfect for single fishermen. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. It is nice here and the price is right.
