Norfork lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental
3/25/2025
Bernie dean with a nice Norfork lake crappie Here at Blackburns. Good fisherlady. The lake level is 553.61 and has dropped 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with just a little generation. The White River at Newport is 7.94 feet and very low indicating not much water is being released anywhere. The surface water temperature is 55-degrees and is rising finally with spring now officially here. March is about over and I hope it takes the wind with it. The weather has been very nice lately but there is a good chance of a storm on Sunday. The lake overall is at a good level and in good condition and clearing. Scuba Steve could see his lure down about 4-5 feet last evening. Fishing is picking up and it needed to. Crappie are pre-spawn feeding and the Bass are moving back in the creeks. Male Crappie will move to the spawning banks soon and the females want to spawn badly. Everything is waiting for a 60-degree water temperature and all we need is a few warm nights. Bass and Crappie are the best bite but a few nice Walleye are showing up as are some White Bass and Hybrid Stripers. The top-water bite is on the way. Get a Spitin Image for Bass and a Zara Spook ready and practice walking the dog. Put away your limber rod and use a medium heavy 6-1/2 ft. Technique is everything. If you are good you can call them up after they go down after sunrise. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental is the home of the $69/day 1-bedroom cabin and it comes with a free stall for your boat at our big dock with two fish cleaning stations. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located.
