Norfork Lake Arkansas Near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lakke Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

3/22/2025

Garrison Antoine from Ames, Iowa with a nice one off Scuba Steve's brush Piles. The lake level is 553.63 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday with very little generation. There is no effort to drop the lake before the spring rains. So far we are dry with all of the wind. It finally layed last night after being incessant for several days making fishing unpleasant. The surface water temperature has dropped to 51+ degrees but should start to rise again with the warmer nights and spring ambient temperatures. We have been cooler than normal but the total heat units are about right with Dogwoods and Bradford Pears in full bloom. Spring is here but the cold fronts of march keep coming on through. The water clarity is about right for fishing and you can see your lure down 3-4 feet. Overall the lake is in excellent condition and at a good level. Fishing is trying to get better especially Bass. The crappie want to spawn badly but the water has not warmed up past 60 yet. The water warmed in the creeks causing bait and predator fish to move back shallow and then cooled back down and they moved back out. When the water continually warms with a temperature differential 3-5 degrees between the creeks and main lake the fishing overall with really pick up as will the top-water bite at sun up. It is a beautiful day today with southerly winds 5-10 with a possible storm tonight but nothing serious here. It is better than what they are getting up north. A few 50+ degree nights should bet things going. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental has a policy of continuous improvement while at the same time having the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks.  A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more.  Compare price and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located.
