We had a thunderstorm this morning and got just a little rain. We were dry. Lake level is 572.80 and they are generating less now for some reason. Level at Newport is at 12+ feet and they could be letting out a lot more. They could do a lot of good by dropping just a few feet but are resistant to do so.  The launch at Panther Bay is in good condition with the county doing a lot of work removing trees and brush. Boating and fishing conditions are excellent and the surface water temperature is in the mid 80's. The ambient temperature is to get near 90 later this weekend. Should be a good holiday. Starting today The law enforcement are out in force to watch for boating under the influence. Have a designated driver or be ready to blow in the tube. Tom Kelly caught some nice stripers on Thumb point in 50-ft. of water on the bottom on a Bink's spoon. Bass are biting in float creek and bluegill are biting off Blackburn's Dock. Walleye are still around the islands on spoons and dragging night crawlers. A lot of fish are at 20-feet of water under submerged trees and brush. Spinner baits are working where you can cast to the bank.
