Scuba Steve From Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental On Norfork Lake Arkansas Near Mountain Home in the Ozark Mountains Blog. (Click Here For Comments)

The lake has risen 1-ft. in the last 24-hours with 1.8 inches of rain and is now 579.3 but they opened the spillway gates again this morning to keep the water from going over them. They had been shut. It is still raining a little now but it is to move out soon and get windy today with a week of dry weather top come. Debris has clogged the launch at Panther Bay and Cranfield is not in use. I will tell you where to launch when you get here. I went out all over yesterday and did not find anything but brown water but did not go way back in Bennetts. If there is clear water I do not know where it is. It will be tough to trot line for a bit with the level changes but when things settle for a few days it will be good. Limb lining is good now. Set your line just a few inches under water and use a live bluegill. Bass have moved into the shallow road beds They will not drop the lake very fast. With the level at Newport at 32.74 they will do everything they can to get it down but are limited only by keeping the water from breeching the area spillways. You can still drive to Blackburns Dock and step on but we need several days of stable weather to clear the water a bit and fishing to pick up again. Launching is not a problem for us as we have many rental boats already at the dock but there are very few public places. This will change as the debris goes down stream.
