Norfork Lake Arkansas Near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba sSeve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Alec Gragg caught some pretty good ones fishing Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental's Brush Piles. Image title

The lake level is 553.12 and has risen 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with no generation since yesterday morning. They always shut off generation before a rain so the lake will rise as much as possible. They like to flood us out and they need to be replaced. A big rain is on the way starting tonight. The White River at Newport is 7.76 feet and low and there has been no effort to drop the lake this winter in preparation for the spring rains. If they cannot manage the level in the winter they have no chance in the spring. The surface water temperature is 46-degrees and has come up a bit and the water is stained a little brown and Scuba Steve could see his lure down about 3-feet. The Crappie started biting yesterday afternoon and continued until dark. Big ones too. They had slowed down for a few days. I even caught a walleye. Fisherman Mike was using a small spoon and Scuba Steve started with a grub and minnow and switched to a live minnow right in the brush on a slip float. The fish were 20-feet down in 32-feet of water and were caught in several different places but all on Blackburns Resort's brush piles. I did not go Bass fishing but it was a beautiful day but cooled off fast at sunset. I do not wish my life away but am glad January is about over. The frost is out of the ground and the snow is gone and I am glad it warmed up before the rain. More of it will sink in but we are under a flash flood watch so somebody is going to get some. I hope it is not in South Central Missour. Local rains do not hurt the lake much. Our trash pick-up company just raised their prices $45/month, my home insurance, resort insurance, car insurance all just took big hits (all with no claims) but Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental is still the home of the $69/day one bedroom cabins and $89/day two bedrooms. Three and four bedrooms are priced accordingly and they come with a free stall for your boat at our big dock with your cabin rental. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. Scuba Steve is aware that he could charge a lot more but he wants his friends and loyal repeat customers to be able to have an affordable fishing trip and family summer vacation. We brag on having the best beds and mattresses in the Ozarks and that is thanks to Furniture Depot in Mountain Home. They have the best selection and best prices anywhere. Stop by and see Kevin or Travis. They will fix you up. It is good to have them for friends. No, Blackburns is not for sale or has not sold. We like it here and are not trying to cash out.
