Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental

The lake level is 552.96 and is up 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with no generation for two days. They absolutely refuse to drop the lake in anticipation of the spring rains which are not far away. When they flood us out it is because of poor lake management. They prepare for rain like California prepares for fires with the same results. The government cannot manage anything properly. The White River at Newport is 9.42 feet an low so not much water is being released anywhere. The surface water temperature is 45+ degrees on the main lake and 44 back in the shallower water in Blackburns Creek. Water color is stained a little brown and Scuba Steve could see his lure down about 3-feet. It has not cleared up like normal this winter as the water cools. It does not look like a shad kill so far this winter and it would lake a long streak of cold weather to have that happen. The lake overall is in excellent condition and at a good level but fishing overall is just fair. Striper and Crappie fishing has slowed and Bass fishing is fair. They had all been better just a few days ago. The lake was very busy yesterday especially in the Blackburns Resort area. There were boats everywhere taking advantage of the warm weather but not much was being caught. Scuba Steve had his best luck part way back in a deep creek just around a secondary point near deep water  grubbing the bank out to the boat catching Kentucky Bass. Crappie fishing was slow but I caught a few. Nothing to brag about. They did better off Blackburns Dock. It is cloudy with a little moon and fishing should be better than it is. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues it's policy of continuousl improvement and still having the best prices in the Ozarks. We have new playground equipment for the children, new beds and bedding for the cabins and several new picnic tables and lots of painting has already been finished. We are getting ready for spring. It is looking good around here. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. it is nice here and the price is right. Why pay more unless you just have too much money? If you do stay at Blackburns and give the difference to disabled Veterans.  A free stall for your boat comes with the cabin rental and our dock is in a sheltered cove with good fishing. We are closest to Mountain Home, dining and shopping and especially welcome Veterans and Police. You will like it here. It is time to reserve your spring fishing trip and family summer vacation. We are family owned, family operated and are not for sale and have not sold out. We like it here and you will also.
