Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Fisherman Mike with a good one.Image title

The lake level is 554.09 and rising with very little generation. We are still below the top of the power pool and there is no effort to drop the lake before the spring rains. We received 1.6 inches of rain Friday night and the creeks ran. A thunderstorm is to hit tonight. The water is still stained a little brown but is clearing. The surface water temperature is 55-degrees and has been fairly stable the last several days. The White River at Newport is 7.68 feet and low indicating not much water is being released anywhere. Overall the lake is in good condition and at a good level.  The best bite for me is from about 2:20 PM until dark for Crappie, Bass and Bluegill and I am using jigs, grubs, small spoons and live minnows. The Crappie seem to bite on the jigs when you first get to the fishing spot and then quit and I switch to the slip float with medium sized minniws and catch a couple more. I am catching a few stripers but do not much care for them but they are fun to catch when the big Crappie are not biting and it is much easier spooning open water fish that brush piles. Fishing is getting better everyday. Blackburns keeps five cabins open all year and they were full yesterday but a couple opened up today. Stop by and check us out. We have the best place with the best price and are closest to Mountain Home, dining and shopping. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. You will like it here and the price is right. We are family owned and family operated and are not for sale or sold and especially welcome Veterans and Police. Old Glory and the Thin Blue Line Flag fly proudly over Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.
