Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Mike Eakle with some nice ones yesterday morning Scuba Diving. Image title

The lake level is 560 49 and has dropped 2-inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running for about 12-hours. The White River at Newport is 11.12 feet and still low. They are scheduled for the same generation today and nothing for tomorrow. Table Rock is below top of power pool, Bull Shoals is at top of power pool, Norfork is way above. They are trying to keep it that way. They must be trying to punish us for something or it could be incompetence. The surface water temperature is 85-degrees in the main channel in the current and warmer near the shore. The water is as clear as it ever gets for the end of July and Scuba Conditions are excellent. The thermocline is 28-29 feet and has been the same for a couple of weeks. Several fish of different species are at or just below that depth. Spoons are the bait of choice. I do not troll or use multiple rods or have a live scope but spend most of my time under water during the summer and know where the fish are located and where the thermocline is located because I am down there amonst em. Putting in my own brush piles in the winter give me a good place to start. Actually pole fishing is easier than Scuba Fishing but I like both.  Trolling with a live scope does not require much skill but puts a lot of meat in the freezer. I do not keep an inventory. The phone does not ring, you receive no texts, you cannot be interrupted and it is very peacefull and quiet under water. Other people's problems just go away. I see and hear a lot of people out on the lake either talking or texting on their phone or staring at their live scopes and it defeats the whole purpose of fishing unless all you care about is geting meat. They are completely unaware of their surroundings which is abundant with wildlife and nature here on Norfork lake. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental also provides for peace and quiet and abundant nature here on the shore. People come here to just stt on their big covered porch and  watch the birds (Blackburns is an official Bird Sanctuary, not to be confused with a sanctuary city) and wildlife for which we have an abundance. Come on down and we will not charge you too much and a free stall for your boat at our dock comes with a cabin rental of two days or more or if you do not want to drag a boat we have 30 rental boats to choose from at the best prices in the Ozarks. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. Why pay more elsewhere?.You will like it here. It looks to be sunny and warm all next week.
