Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 558.93 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday with both generators running for about 4-hours. The White River at Newport is 12.72 feet and they continue to regulate to 12-feet for some reason. They are holding the area lakes too high.  We have received about two inches over the average rainfall for the year. The surface water temperature is about 77-degrees and stable and there is a thermocline at 26-feet and dropping. Several fish of different species are at the thermocline near the bottom on main lake points and can be caught on a small spoon or jig. The water clarity is not the best for this time of year but not bad.  The lake overall is in good condition for boating, swimming and fishing. The White bass are making a good comeback after several of them were killed off a few years ago. There are bait fish everywhere on the main lake in about 50-feet of water at various depths at the mouths of creeks. This year's spawn of bass and bluegill are showing up on brush for cover drawing predator fish. People are catching fish every day and stripers are showing up near the 62-bridge trolling umbrellas. Blackburns still has a few openings for both cabins and boat rentals this summer so give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation before you have to pay much more elsewhere. We will not charge you too much and a free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more.
