The lake level is 553.70 and dropped just a bit in the last 24-hours. They have started running the one operating generator for about 8-hours starting at 9:AM in the morning and then shutting everything off. They are regullating the level to the top of the power pool of 553.75 and is very dangerious with the spring rains coming. Do not expect much from the government and then you will not be disappointed. The surface water temperature is 56-degrees on the main lake and warmer back in the creeks. The White River at Newport is 9.75 feet and still low but more water is being let out into the White River than all Winter. We have had below average rainfall. The water clarity is very good on the main lake and Scuba Steve could see his lure down past 10-feet. The creeks cleared last night but that varies day to day depending on the gerneration. ,There are a lot of fish moving in under Blackburns Dock and Most Of them are staging for the spawn. The lake level has been very stable for several months and that is due to the below average rainfall. They should be dropping the level in the winter in anticipation of the spring rains. They flooded us out in the last of March last year for no reason. That is not the case this year as the lake overall is in excellent condition and at a good level. Bass Fishing is the best with most fish partway back in the creeks biting on single spins and the active fish biting on crank baits. We have sveral Bass fishermen here at Blackburns who are not meat hunters and they report doing very well. The larger fish are starting to pre-spawn bite. Everything is in transition and waiting for the water to warm. The Walleye have moved downstream from their spawning banls and some Wite Bass are doing the same. The night bite for spawning  stripers is finally starting. The Moody brothers report catching a lot of bass but release them Others are catching fish in the back of Blackburns Creek. Come on down to Blackburns and we will not charge you too much. I know you want to see the same  pictures of the same old guys over and over killing dock floors of fish but I will not do it. Meat hunters are ok but I do not promote it. They can do what they want here. We are still the home of the $59/day nice 1-bedroom cabins and a free stall for yoiur boat comes with the cabin. Why pay more unless you just have too much money. We will not charge you too much and there will be no price increases for 2024. Friends do not charge friends too much. We want our repeat customers to have an affordable vacation with out raising their prices. We like then.
