Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

Caught fishing with Bink's Guide service yesterday.Image titleImage title

The lake level is 570.41 and has dropped a little over an inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuously and three spillway gates open one foot.  This is equal to two generators. The lake is clearing after the rain and runoff and the surface temperature is hanging in there at 60. The lake is in good condition but needs to warm back up. There were big schools of shad fry under the dock yesterday and they were very small and had just hatched. We caught our first flathead and that is a good sign. Bass and catfish are the best bite now with a few spawned out crappie showing up.The smallmouth bass bite is improving and a few walleye are being caught. Most fish are either in or just outside the old shoreline in the brush. Every thing has a lot of cover and a lot of feed but some good fish are being caught everyday mostly in the creeks. Some fish are suspended in 30-35 feet back in the creeks near brush in the old creek channel. I do not know why. Must be some bait around there somewhere or shad after plankton since they are in the creeks that the wind is blowing into. I have not seen much top water action the last couple of days. Just a few small bass. Warmer weather will put the bass on the beds.
