Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 557.26 and is dropping less than 2-inches/day. The surface temperature was about 80 when I went diving yesterday. The visibility was poor after the lake turnover but should clear up a bit soon as it settles out. I saw very little algae bloom this year and did not see the thermocline drop past 27-feet all year. The visibility was pretty good all year but spearfishing was just fair. Crappie were good but walleye and catfish were below fair. I will keep going until the surface temperature drops to below 70. I hate to give up. I am seeing less and less fish everyday but it is probably do to the visibility. I am only seeing bass, crappie, catfish and walleye and most of the walleye are undersized. Fishing should improve as we get into the month and after full moon. We will see if the walleye and striper move to the bank at dark on full moon in Novermber to feed. This is the time for stick baits on the 12th with a big moon. They do not always do this but the best walleye bite will be on the bank just before dark just do not know about the stripers. Try soft plastics too. Thanksgiving is a good time to catch some big fish. Come on down.  We will not charge you too much.
