Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 564.67 and has dropped a little less than 2-inches in the last 24-hours. The surface temperature is about 83 degrees and the visibility is good  and you can see about 8-feet off rocky banks. Many Kentucky bass and crappie have moved to the bank at about 20-feet along with a few walleye. This has just happened. If you can find brush at 20-25 feet there will be crappie on them. Several are just on the main lake side  of main lake points with some straight out on the points. I saw very few fish at 30-feet where they were earlier. The thermocline starts at 25-feet and is cold at 30-feet. It was encouraging to see so many good fish. i still am seeing no white bass at all which is very unusual. I wish people would quit killing all of these small stripers and taking pictures of dock floors lined with small dead fish. It is not impressive.  When you fish in deep water and catch fish they all die no matter their size.  The limit needs to be reduced to two fish for stripers and hybrids. They do not dress out very well anyway for meat hunters but are fun to catch. Wait until they are on top or on the bank. This will happen this fall. Blackburns has $59/day cabins starting Tuesday and the fishing is getting better every day. Come on down.  We will not charge you too much.
