Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

John Bornhop with a couple of nice Norfork Lake Crappie.  Caught more too on Blackburns Brush piles which he helped to put in. Image title

The lake level is 551.28 and dropping about 1-inch/day with several hours of generation in the afternoons. The surface temperature is still 80 degrees and stable with the warm weather.  It is getting dry again here but there are several chances for rain in the near future. Fall foliage is not progressing very well yet and mostly things are just starting to get brown. I will keep you posted. Fish are still mostly in summer mode with some still very deep and some scattering looking for better oxygen. People fishing the very deep water are killing a lot of small fish as well as keepers. There is no chance any will live and all coming up will die. The so called venting does not work. Go fish the shallow water where you can cull unless you are just starving for meat. They will move to the bank in the evening to feed soon and you can release the undersized. These dock floors full of dead small stripers and walleye will take a toll and are nothing to brag about. Tom Stanton, Tom Kelly and John Bornhop are all catching some very nice fish everyday. I am catching a few and it is nice to be out in the warm sunshine. Come on down we will not charge you too much. It tooks to be warm for awhile.
