DINING AND SHOWS

Each year many of our guests report to us what they enjoyed for dinner and a show. And we get out for dining and entertainment ourselves from time to time. When you are ready for a good meal and a show, ask us and we'll make several good recommendations.

7 Restaurants Within 10 Minutes of Blackburn's
Eat at a different restaurant every day without having to travel more than a few minutes. And within 15 to 20 minutes you'll find several more restaurants in Mountain Home, including many of America's favorite brand name fast food restaurants. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, they are open. If you prefer to cook your meals in your cottage, you'll be pleased to know that a Wal-Mart Super Center, the largest in the State of Arkansas, keeps its grocery section open 24 hours. A few minutes further down the road is another excellent grocery store, Harps.

America's Live Music Show Capital
While not many of our guests make the trip to Branson, this is still worth considering because those who go have a great time. It is a 2.5 hour drive to get to Branson. The drive is a scenic one. Leave at 7:30am, catch a show, have a meal, then drive back and you'll be back by 7:30pm. The guests who make this trek want to enjoy live music shows but don't want to lodge in a busy city like Branson. Instead they "base" at Blackburn's for the tranquility. The highways to both Branson and Mountain View are scenic and peaceful.

Ozark Folk Center & Music
Operated by the State of Arkansas, the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View has 18 to 20 craftsman demonstrating how the Ozark settlers made what they needed. Pottery, brooms, wooden serving bowls, linens, black smithing, herb gardens, jewelry, soap, candles, quilting and similar pioneer crafts. You'll enjoy living history storytelling presented by actors in period costume. For many the main attraction is the folk music. All day long in the outdoor theater free live music shows are performed by bluegrass and folk music artists. At night in the 1,000 seat auditorium America's top bluegrass and folk artists perform.

Mountain View, AR
The folk music and bluegrass shows of Mountain View, Arkansas are an hour away. The best known is Cash's Hoe-Down. Other similar shows as good are also in Mountain View. In general the music is folk, gospel, and bluegrass, and the humor is country. The shows are funny, clean, and great entertainment. The antique and native craft shops of Mountain View offer true quality Ozark arts and crafts. Many of our guests make the trip down to shop, have a meal at any of the several restaurants, take in a show, then come back to Blackburn's. The drive takes about 45 minutes one way. And as luck would have it, the drive is down an Arkansas Scenic Byway (State Highway 5) so the drive is far from boring.
