Blackburn's Resort Newsletter
Dear Friends:
We came through the ice storm and high water very well thanks
to your understanding and a lot of work. Our business has continued to grow every
year and our list of friends has gotten longer. Despite all of the worlds
problems, Norfork Lake is still one of the best places to visit. The economy
continues to be troublesome and despite rising costs in
almost every area we are not increasing cottage rates for the 4th straight year
in hopes that you can still visit us at Blackburns. Debbie and Susan are
painting; and I am trying to make sure everything is in good working order. Our boats are
ready and we will continue to make improvements until you get here. You will like the fact
that we have installed a new wireless internet system with a strong signal that reaches
all cottages. We have placed a computer, for those who do not bring one, in the game room
(open 24/7) so everyone can have internet access at all times.
We lost Abby this year to cancer. I still think of
her often as I do our dog Chance. We have a new dog, though, named Toby! He is a
Curr and is 6-months old. I just love him! He came from the dog pound as a stray
and is happy to be here. He loves children and other dogs and is very friendly!
He and Debbie's dog, Paco, are the best of friends. We still have both stray cats, Cali
and Max. Debbie has spoiled them. We do not need any more animals.
We are going into the winter with too high of water;
but, so is everyone else. It has not affected anything much and Blackburns has
no diminished services. What we do have is great fishing! Check out our Web site
link below and click on "fishing report" and
"news and specials" on the left hand side bar. I have started a new
blog on the Web site which gives you up-to-date information on everything in the
area. We will make sure you are staying at the best place and for the best price. I
will continue to give Blackburns Resort guests priority on fishing and diving
reports. Gus and I will also have brush piles at the right depth when you get here for
good fishing. Our fishing off the dock has been very good. I am fishing with Bink's
often and we are doing very well. The fish population is very high and I do not
anticipate any problems catching them.
Darrell Binks and Steve Street are
going to several sports shows this year (see schedule above) to show support to you when
many do not. The dates and places are listed above. See you there to tell lies!
Remember you cannot walk on our water or drill holes in it and the season never closes. If
you go to Canada and have cabin fever and do not want to wait until June, Blackburns
is the place. We have great walleye fishing!
Hope you have a great holiday season! Make your
reservations early to get the cottage and boat of your choice. Deposits to hold your
cottages are due January 15th, 2010. Take care and stay in touch!
Sincerely,
Steve, Debbie, Susan, Paco, Toby, Cali, Max
