We received about 1/10th of an inch of rain last night with much more just west of us. We need some more but not that much. The lake is over 557 and is still rising slowly. They need to let some water out and not wait until it is too high and then open the gates and waste it. Surely there is some place that needs electricity with this hot weather. These minimum flow requirements are a failure and a cluster bomb like most government programs. John Bornhop just left and caught catfish, smallmouth and several crappie. He said he had to catch several before getting a keeper but came in with several of them. It was good to see him again. Bink is moving further south to get stripers but is still getting them everyday. I went diving yesterday and got some very nice walleye. They were on main lake points on brush in 25-30 feet of water. There is a thermocline at 20-feet and cold water under. The visibility is just fair and is better as you move south. I will put my fishing poles away except when I go with Bink and dive. I like both. The night fishermen with black lights are getting some good bass and they are still coming up a bit in the mornings but most of them are small. White bass are moving to their summer banks in 30-ft. of water lots of them. Use spoons or rooster tails.
