Norfork Lake Fishing Report By Scuba Steve From Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental On Norfork Lake Arkansas Near Mountain Home In the Ozark Mountains (Click Here for Comments)

I went out yesterday just to see if I could catch fish in the middle of a sunshiny day. I went back in Hensley's on the crappie spot and caught a few on shallow brush and turned them loose as they were all males. There were fish coming up all over by the first dock but they were all either small bass or white bass. Not interested in either one. Caught some looking for bigger fish and left. I only fish for white bass if I cannot catch anything else.   I tried spooning for walleye but just caught one small one. My trot lines are not producing well and I do not know whether to move them or wait. They work every other year and I have good perch for bait. Fishing in the mouth of the creek is producing some big crappie and catfish on the shallow flats on points. Go to the opposite side of the river channel in the shallow water near any structure or back on the creeks like east Pigeon and Briar. Many are in pigeon but there are too many fishermen there.  We had a full house here again yesterday and I had to return to work. This great weather sure brings them in but we do need some rain. Maybe on Wednesday. The big pool is almost ready and the new paint job looks great. i will allow it to cure as much as possible before starting to fill. We try to have it open by early May. Walleye fishing will be good by then. That is what I am after. When the big fish are through spawning and the fry leave the nest I will feel a lot better about all of these fishing tournaments. A thermocline will form when the surface water temperature gets in the early 70's, and a lot of post spawn fish will be just above it on brush. Cabins are still $53/day for a one bedroom for two people. All are individual cabins with no duplexes and all have covered porches. 27-Rental boats to choose from at the best prices. Boat stalls are still free.
