Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 561.27 and has risen 3-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with no generation for 20-hours but they did start this morning. Table Rock is at normal top of power pool with very heavy generation for several days. Norfork is 8-feet above top of power pool which illustrates to what extent Branson and the landing are protected at all costs. It is all about the $. It is to the point of being corrupt. The light needs to be shined on the people making these decisions and they need to be subject to public scrutiny instead of being anonymous.  It was a little cool when I went out yesterday but not too bad with electric gloves and sox. We moved the dock first, which is a daily event now, and we stuck near Blackburns fishing part way back in the creeks using the grub for bass. Saveral were caught but no picture fish. They were biting very lightly and you could barely tell when they bit except for the line twitch. The wind has to be vey light or you have to get out of it to use this technique. Several fish are between the bank and the brush piles just in front of the buckbrush in 10-12 feet. White bass fishing is good, crappie and bass fair. Several fish are being caught everyday and the lake is in good condition despite going into the spring too high to handle any future big rains. The surface temperature is still in the mid 40's depending on the time of day. When you get a bass on, try very hard to prevent him from jumping because they are spitting out lures badly with this light bite. Crank baits with treble hooks hold them better but you will not catch as many on them right now. Watch out for some debri on the lake when the wind changes but it is not bad though.
