The lake level is 558.31 and dropping about 3-1/2 inches a day with generation about 2/3 of time. They are stubbornly holding Newport at 12-ft. for some unknown reason. This needs to be changed. This is wrong.  We should be 5-6 feet lower by now. It is a good thing the heavy rains have gone around us. I went diving yesterday morning and did poorly. I changed locations and the visibility was terrible. At least where the fish are which is 20-24 feet. Thermocline has dropped to 22-feet. I did see a big school of small striped bass about 8-9 inches long and a few bass but that was it. I have been seeing a lot more fish until yesterday. Bass fry of varying sizes are literly everywhere and by the thousands. Dive off chunk rocks out of boat traffic for best vivibility. It does not hurt pole fishing though. Spoons and trolling umbrellas are working the best for red meat fish. Walleye are near brush in the 20-24 ft. range.
