Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 553.46 and rising very slowly with no generation for 24-hours. The lake is clearing just a bit. At least the brown water is going away. I am concerned about water clarity for the diving season.  Bass are biting on river channel banks on the main lake on the first drop-off on grubs and shiners. Crappie are biting on spoons, grubs, and jigs in 25-ft. on brush. For some reason a lot of smaller ones are showing up. Those are usually reserved for Bennetts. I am not catching any big ones but some are 11-inches. Small White bass are in the creeks and some larger ones are on the main lake lake on shad. Nobody comes here to fish for white bass. The big stripers are scarce and the ones being caught are in the 8-lb. range. Some good smallmouth are being caught near the bank on various lures. Fishing in general is just fair for me but I am catching some everyday but am too busy to stay out very long. This is when our busy season starts and I have a lot of cabins and rental boats to get ready. People are taking advantage of our low cabin and boat rental prices and we have several in. If you are staying at a place where you are nearly the only customer, you are paying too much.
