Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 553.36 and rising with no generation. The White River at Newport has dropped to 17 feet and they could be generating here like they are on the White River chain of lakes. I like it lower to have surge capacity for the spring rains. The lake in general is in excellent condition.  It was almost 80 degrees yesterday and the normal high is 61. Surface water temperature is 51 on the main lake and warmer back in the creeks.  People ask me when is the best time to come to Norfork in the spring and I say after March 15th. It is right on schedule this year. The temperate bass are biting far back in the major creeks in 15-30 foot of water on shad. Stripers, Hybrids and very large White bass are now biting on the Bink's spoon vertical jigging and some very large Largemouth are mixed in. Some are also using live bait and umbrellas. Top water at sunrise and striper fishing after dark on a stick bait are right around the corner. This is an exciting time of year and it has begun. Finally. I never do well early March for some reason. I have some pictures and will post later. You can still get a 1-bedroom cabin for $53/day for two people with a free boat stall. We have no duplexes and all cabins have covered porches. We do not charge for trolling motors on pontoons.
